About this Program

The AS degree in Strategic Security Studies is designed to provide a strong foundations of knowledge and skills for students interested in transferring to earn a four year degree in criminal justice/terrorism studies/homeland security/intelligence studies. The curriculum focuses on trends in terrorism, terrorist operations and the methods employed to detect, deter, and respond to terrorist activities. Special attention is placed on identifying behavioral characteristics associated with terrorist operations. Careers for students pursuing this degree include: Central Intelligence Agency, Department of State, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Department of Defense and Customs and Border Patrol. Specific jobs include Counter Intelligence Threat Analyst, Diplomatic Security special Agent, Targeting Analyst, Security Specialist, and Counter-Terrorism Analyst.
