About this Program

This major program provides training in music with in the context of a liberal arts education. Common courses include music theory, music composition, music performance studies, music literature, music history, and conducting. An applied music area in an instrument or voice is usually included. The primary mission of the Department of Music is to prepare students for professional careers in music and/or music education, and to assist them in developing their musical skills to their personal best.
