Administrative Assistants perform a full range of office tasks such as schedule appointments, read and route incoming mail, and locate and attach appropriate files to correspondence to be answered by the employer. They often transcribe business correspondence from machine dictation, using a computer. Administrative Assistants file and retrieve correspondence and other records manually and/or electronically. They answer telephones and give information to callers or route calls to the appropriate individual, arrange travel schedules and reservations, and prepare outgoing mail using postage-metering equipment. Graduates may use data base and word processing software on the computer.
