About this Program

The Marine Engine Technician is a person who works in an exciting, rapidly changing and growing industry. The Marine Engine Technology curriculum is designed to educate individuals to become competent marine technicians. The primary focus of the program is the diagnosis, service and repair of outboard and stern drive engines, drive systems, and related systems and components. Students will perform service on modern marine equipment using special test equipment and tools. Students in this program will learn how to plan and perform repairs according to the various manufacturers' recommended procedures. Students entering this program should have good mechanical aptitude, communication skills, and the ability to comprehend service literature. Graduates of this program are in high demand to fill positions in dealerships as technicians, with many having opportunities to move into management, self-employment, and factory representative positions.
