The AS Degree is designed to prepare students for transfer to a baccalaureate degree (BS) in a related scientific or technical field such as Nursing, Dental Hygiene, Kinesiology or other science based majors. The purpose of this program is to give students a solid foundation in the sciences and to allow a more seamless transfer to a baccalaureate degree major or program in the sciences, math or other health care or medical field.
The AS Degree is awarded after the successful completion of 60 semester credits. At SCTCC, this includes a minimum of 48 semester credits from the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum including courses in areas such as oral and written communication, the lab sciences, and math. In addition, students will take 12 semester credits of electives. Electives will be carefully chosen with the help of an advisor to account for other MnTC or occupational requirements. A minimum of 20 semester credits must be earned at SCTCC.
