An accounting clerk performs any combination of routine calculating, posting and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting records. In addition, the accounting clerk prepares daily bank deposits, writes checks and maintains a cash disbursement system. Graduates with an Accounting Clerk Diploma often find employment in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, or Payroll departments of business firms. The Accounting Clerk Diploma student will lease (or purchase) a laptop computer to facilitate the completion of the diploma.
