This program introduces concepts of basic human needs and the role of the nursing assistant in health care. Basic nursing skills will be demonstrated and practiced in the laboratory setting. Upon successful completion of classroom studies, the student will participate in 24 hours of supervised clinical experience in a long-term care setting. This course meets the objectives of federal and state statutory requiremnts for nursing assistant training. Upon successful completion of this course the candidate is eligible to take the Minnesota Competency Evaluation for Nursing Assistant. Individuals successfully completing this examination are placed on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry.
