About this Program

This program prepares individuals to be Surgical Technologists. Surgical Technologists assist surgeons and registered nurses in the care of patients. The Surgical Technologist is an integral member of the surgical team. Technologists are responsible for setting up supplies and equipment for surgical procedures . In addition, the technologist assists the surgeon with donning of gowns and gloves, passing of instruments, sutures, and medications to the surgeon during the operative procedure. This person works under the direction of the surgeon and registered nurse in a hospital, surgical center, or clinic. Background study is required by Minnesota law.
