About this Program

This program prepares individuals for communication and increased fluency in American Sign Language. Instruction focuses on the linguistic and cultural aspects of American Sign Language. Individuals will enhance their ability to work with deaf and hard-of-hearing people in a variety of settings. Completion of the American Sign Language Studies Certificate: 1.) Enhances ability to work with deaf and hard-of-hearing people in academic, agency and business settings. 2.) Meets world language requirements in some state colleges and universities and/or may be used to fulfill general education requirements. 3.) May be used to prepare and/or enhance skills for entry into the Interpreter/Transliterator Program.
