Graduates of the Office Specialist program are prepared to use sophisticated computer applications used in today's office. Along with those computer skills, training includes basic business skills such as keyboarding, communications, machine transcription, and office procedures. Secretaries may handle mail, telephone calls, faxes, keyboard correspondence, reports and forms using a variety of software applications, file and retrieve records, use electronic mail and calendaring, and post information to records. The electronic office has brought new responsibilities for the traditional secretary.34 credits
