About this Program

The Department of Special Education offers an undergraduate, comprehensive major which leads to licensure as an Academic and Behavioral Strategist (ABS) to teach students with mild-moderate disabilities across catagorical areas. Students will complete a common sequence of coursework that is paired with field experiences in elementary, middle, secondary and speical education settings. During the student teaching semester students are placed in both an elementary and a secondary special education setting and complete specialized coursework during a wekly senior seeminar and a methods/intervention class. After obtaining this license at the undergraduate level, students will have completed a majority of the coursework for additional licenses that are offered at the graduate level.
