Administrative Support Software Specialists are skilled in the use of various types of software, including word processing, spreadsheet, database, and graphics presentation software, as well as electronic mail and Internet use. They provide technical assistance and training to users on how to operate and maintain software most effectively, and may fill the help desk role for their employer. Support Specialists load software into microcomputer memory, test systems, and diagnose hardware and software problems. In addition, they may make minor repairs to computer systems - usually by replacing components or programs - and keep records of service and repairs. They are also asked to help evaluate microcomputer hardware and software needs, purchases, and modifications.
