About this Program

Nondestructive testing is the examination of an object or material in a manner which does not affect its future usefulness. Nondestructive tests are done to detect internal or external imperfections or defects; to determine structure, composition, and properties; or to measure geometric characteristics without affecting the form, fit, or function of the test object or material.
The NDT program at Ridgewater College is nationally known by employers for its extensive training in NDT theory, testing and inspection methods. The program is recognized by the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) as one of the best colleges in the United States to offer NDT training. Students train in each of the major nondestructive testing methods, including X-ray and isotope radiography, ultrasound, eddy-current, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant and visual inspection. Students spend much of their course time performing hands-on applications in one of the best equipped labs in the United States.
