About this Program

This A.A.S. program curriculum consists of a combination of basic and applied disciplines along with training certifications primarily designed to prepare students for immediate employment in industry, consulting firms, or government agencies, especially within the expanding areas of renewable and non-renewable energy, mining, agriculture, waste management, environmental management, and others. Graduates of this program will have entry level knowledge and skills in the following areas: safe and accurate field sampling including air, noise, water, soil, or minerals; environmental rules, permitting, compliance, and monitoring; basic biological, chemical, and physical analysis of environmental samples; field navigation, GPS and GIS technology, and mapping; HAZWOPER certification (OSHA hazardous waste training); first aid; environmental health and safety issues, requirements and procedures; and report writing and public speaking.
