Humanities/Fine Arts (06)
(MnTC Goal 6) Prerequisite: ART 1141 or ART 1241 with a grade of C or better Drawing II introduces the student to a more complex and developed approach to drawing. The course further develops the technical aspect of drawing through rigorous and challenging assignments, and the students learn to manipulate new materials. The class emphasizes process, color, style, personal imagery and conceptual ideas. A supply fee is required; additional costs may be incurred based on individual student need. See course notes or contact the instructor for additional information. Students must be prepared to spend 6-8 hours per week in the drawing studio outside of class.

ART 2041 - Drawing II - 3 credits
This course expands and refines concepts covered in Drawing I. Additional topics include thematic intent and deeper investigation into the impact of composition. Students will also explore the properties of a variety of wet and dry materials, including color. Projects and exercises are based on direct observation of still life, the human form, architectural spaces, and nature. Coursework includes cultural/historical research and considers a range of contemporary professional applications. Prerequisite: ART 1041. Recommendation: ART 1024.

This course continues the study of drawing concepts using various media to explore color, the human figure, and representational as well as non-representational subject matter.
